Kallamarn

A foundation for the Eveningstar campaign

Kallamarn in Cormyr

Kallamarn, named for one of its earliest settlers, is a tiny farming hamlet in Cormyr situated along the banks of the Starwater at the rapids southwest of Gladehap. The settlement consists of little more than a cluster of produce sheds beside the towpath where bargemen guide their vessels past the rushing waters. From afar, the place is easily recognized by the tall tripod timbers used as rope anchors for the barges hauling their loads upstream.

There is little else of note here, though the remnants of an old orchard still straggle along the riverbanks. The trees bear Kallamarn Catsheads—large green apples once favored in the markets of Suzail. The fruit makes very tart pies and may be freely gathered by travelers. Caution is advised, however, for each year some apple pickers are dragged into the Starwater by lurking kelpies or other riverborne dangers.

Locals say kelpies can be driven off with hermit berries gathered from Hermit’s Wood, and wise travelers often carry a handful when walking the riverbanks.
