Ongul’s Water in Cormyr
Ongul’s Water is a quiet hamlet in Cormyr named for the small pond at its heart. The settlement lies in a narrow wooded valley just northwest of Hermit’s Wood, where a spring rises to form a round, tranquil lake. From this pond the waters flow westward into the Starwater River, passing near a small wooded island known locally as Hunters’ Isle.
The hamlet’s only notable industry is a modest grist mill operated by Durkin, a descendant of the original settler Ongul. Aside from the mill, the people of Ongul’s Water live simple rural lives, tending vegetable plots and raising ducks in the surrounding wetlands.
Little of interest occurs in this secluded community. A handful of the more adventurous locals sometimes hunt within Hermit’s Wood and occasionally offer their services as guides to visiting travelers—though most outsiders would be surprised to learn how little of the forest even these guides have actually explored.
